Hi! Here is my first post for the new design blog.The design above combines hand drawn typography with sophomoric humor and an emoticon, YAY!
The "3<" is a fart and the design is a take on "I ♥" whatever. My friend, Jenn, far as I know created the emoticon....so blame her.
I like drawing my own typography. I think it can add more life to a design than a font, not that all fonts are bad or lifeless. One of my favorite illustrators is Nate Williams. He combines I wonderful illustration style with some of the best examples of hand drawn lettering in the business. He is able to add an organic dimension to ads that may other wise be drab.
